Who we are

MidCenturyModern.com is published in Palm Springs, California, by Corey Chambers and John Weeks. This page explains how we handle information about the people who use the site. If anything here is unclear, use the Contact page.

What we collect, and when

Contact form. If you write to us, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. We use them only to reply.

Market listings and photo submissions. If you list an item or send a photograph, we receive what you enter, including any photos and your contact details. Your email address stays private unless you choose to show it on a listing. Photos you send may be published with credit.

Advertising orders. Payments for ads are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We receive the details of the order and the contact information you give us.

Ask Max. When you ask Max a question, your messages are sent to Anthropic, the company that runs the AI model behind Max, so that it can write an answer. We also save the question and answer in a private record that only the publishers can read, so we can improve Max and see what readers want. Please do not put personal or sensitive information in a question. We do not link saved questions to your name or email address.

Memberships and email. You can join free with just your email address. We keep that address, the date you joined, your last sign-in, and whether you opted in to the Sunday Edition newsletter. We email you a one-time sign-in link through our email provider, Resend. There is no password. Newsletter emails are sent only if you tick the box, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We use your membership only to sign you in, give you more daily questions for Max, and send what you asked for. Your email is never shown publicly.

Technical data. Our website host (Webflow) and its cloud services keep ordinary server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use your IP address, or your member account if you are signed in, in a limited way to count how many questions Max has been asked in a day. That daily count is not attached to the text of your questions. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to see which pages are read.

Cookies

We use only the cookies we need to run the site. If you sign in, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is used for nothing else, and signing out removes it. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for third-party advertising profiles.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the services that help us run the site: Webflow (hosting and forms), Anthropic (Max), Stripe (payments), and Resend (sign-in and newsletter email). We may disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and orders for as long as we need them to answer you, keep business records and meet legal duties. Saved Max conversations are reviewed and deleted periodically. Ask us and we will delete your information sooner.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. If you live in California or the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under local law, including the right to know what we collect and to object to its use. Use the Contact page to make a request.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top. This is a plain-language policy and not legal advice.
