Our approach
We write about mid-century modern architecture, design and living for people who love it. We aim to be accurate, fair and useful, and to treat our readers as smart.
Sourcing
We work from published sources and from what we can see for ourselves, and we say where a claim comes from. When we cannot confirm something, we say so. We write in our own words and link to the original source rather than copying it.
AI-assisted content
We use AI openly. Max, our guide, is an AI and is labeled as one. The headlines in the news ticker are short summaries of stories from other publications, prepared with AI assistance and linked to the original source. AI can make mistakes, so we check what we publish and invite corrections.
Photographs and credit
We credit photographers and sources whenever we know them. Reader-submitted photos run with the sender's permission and credit. Photos credited to Staff were taken or commissioned by us. Some Staff photos are created by researching multiple public photos and using AI to make a new and different image.
Advertising and independence
Ads and sponsored placements are clearly labeled and never presented as editorial. Advertisers do not get to change what we write. Listings in the Market are posted by the people selling, and we do not endorse them.
Listings and events
Real estate listings, prices and event details come from public sources and can change. Confirm details with the seller, agent or organizer before you act.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we will fix it promptly and, for a significant error, note the correction on the story. To report a mistake, use the Contact page.
